University Board Candidates Need Your Support at MDP Convention

On Thursday, July 26 we held a candidate forum and were visited by three passionate, brilliant, and accomplished women asking for our support in the MSU and Wayne State Board Races. These are contested races and the candidate is to be chosen at the MDP convention. If you are going to the convention please look at these candidates. Let me just say the concert was “FUN”. One could feel the pulse and excitement in the air as the musicians took to the stage, in the sweltering heat, at 8:00 pm. Kresge Auditorium, the scene was set! I was all choked up hoping the band would sound like I remembered. Debbie Harry strode across the stage in her black shades and blonde / pink hair, platform tennis shoes and a white cape with the rather direct message, ‘Stop F-ing the Planet.’ The audience stood and cheered. On June 10th, U.S. Congressional candidate Matt Morgan was joined by New York Times bestselling author Marianne Williamson along with passionate supporters at the Grand Traverse Resort for an energetic afternoon of speeches and audience questions. On June 20, the GT Dems held a fundraiser for Secretary of State candidate Jocelyn Benson at Keen Technical Solutions’ beautiful event space. Jocelyn spent an afternoon in Traverse City, a stop on her campaign travels around Michigan, to dive deeper into her proposed ideas for Secretary of State. June 26th brought about the Grand Traverse Democrats’ “Meet Our Wavemakers Event” at the Hotel Indigo, an evening which showcased all of the local party’s recent accomplishments, plans for the immediate and long-term future, as well as all 10 of our Democratic candidates. It’s the first year that every county commission district has had a Democrat on the ballot, and we intend to keep this blue wave crashing in Grand Traverse County.
