About the event
SUNDAY 1/11 ICE OUT FOR GOOD @ CIVIC CENTER
On January 7, 2026, ICE agents shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, an unarmed American citizen and mother, in Minneapolis. More than 20 people were killed by ICE or died in ICE custody in 2025 alone. Just this week (1/8), two more people were shot by ICE in Portland.
This is not public safety. This is state violence. The time to act is NOW!
Join Traverse Indivisible and communities nationwide for a rapid-response rally demanding accountability and an end to ICE terror in our cities. ICE OUT FOR GOOD!
WHEN: Sunday 1/11, 12pm-2pm
WHERE: Civic Center, stretching along front street on the sidewalks towards downtown
What to bring:
Wear all black in mourning for Renee and all ICE victims
Signs: “ICE OUT FOR GOOD,” messages about ICE violence, due process, rule of law
Noisemakers and your voice, be ready to chant and get loud
Your presence, bear witness and stand in solidarity
What to expect: This is a peaceful protest rally, not a silent vigil. We’ll line Front Street from the Grand Traverse Civic Center stretching toward downtown. Join anywhere along the route. Some may march, some may stand, the most important thing is showing up.
We demand lawmakers do their jobs!
Stop funding ICE while they terrorize our communities
Get ICE out of our neighborhoods
Accountability for those who kill with impunity and justice for the victims of ICE violence
Commitment to Peaceful Resistance
A core principle behind all Traverse Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
The Traverse City Police Department is not ICE. The Grand Traverse County Sheriffs are not ICE. The Michigan State Police are not ICE. Our allies in local law enforcement are there to ensure we are able to exercise our first amendment rights safely, and many of them are working overtime or on their days off to do so.
We ask that all attendees treat law enforcement, first responders, and the surrounding communities with respect!
Our coalition is a broad one, and that means lifting each other up. If you see law enforcement at the event, thank them! We know tensions are high, but they are our neighbors too, and in times like this we must come together and lead with love. They make these events possible!

Please bring signs, noisemakers, or other props for attention.
Encouraged to dress in all black in remembrance of the all the lives lost due to ICE violence over the past year.
Signs should center on ICE OUT FOR GOOD messaging, the rule of law and due process, and the rights of all people on American soil to feel safe and secure in the neighborhoods where they live.
There will be a mobilize listing for this event, but we can’t wait for it to go live before we start spreading the word. We will update the flier and social media postings when it gets approved.
