More Details
TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Traverse Indivisible has finalized the program details for its non-partisan demonstration, the No Kings 2 Day of Action, set for Saturday, October 18, 2025, from Noon to 2 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Civic Center. This peaceful gathering aims to unite citizens across the political spectrum to defend the core principles of the First Amendment; free speech, assembly, and the democratic rule of law.
The event is a continuation of the nationwide "No Kings" demonstrations, which emphasize that the government must remain accountable to the people, not to any single elite. Amidst escalating national tensions, including concerning instances of defiance of judicial orders and the use of government power to fan the flames of political division, Traverse Indivisible is calling for unity to protect fundamental American liberties.
The October 18th program will feature a 30-minute lineup of prominent community voices, followed by a short, peaceful march and open protesting. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs, and will also be treated to musical performances by the local group TC Sings (tcsings.org).
"The threats to our democracy have never been more palpable. When leaders talk of deploying the National Guard against American citizens or refuse to respect the rule of law, we must rise, not as Republicans or Democrats, but as Americans," said Leif Kolt, Traverse Indivisible Communications Team Lead. "This is a non-violent act of patriotism; a declaration that our rights, our due process, and our courts will be preserved against any who seek to undermine them."
In a display of community focus, the protest will also host a food drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to local community organizations dedicated to food banking and mutual aid efforts in the Grand Traverse region.
"Our democracy is built on the simple idea that no one is above the law and that every voice matters," Kolt added. "This event is about setting aside our differences, supporting our neighbors through the food drive, and standing together to ensure that the American principles of free speech and assembly are available to all, and are not eroded by divisive rhetoric or abuses of power."
